Thanks--alas, that's not the source of the problem, but another symptom. Even when I type a hard, non-relative, C: &c. &c. &c. path in there it changes it to $HIP. -

Maybe try with Target Forward Vector, a bit hard blend, for a smooth edge need to make something else. paint_alignment_v02.hiplc
